In leadership, the big wins are typically the product of small, everyday actions. Not the boisterous moments on stage in front of the audience—but the quiet, deliberate habits when nobody's looking.
High-performing leaders know this to be true:
Your routine shapes your results.
That’s the heartbeat of my CHARGE framework—Create Habits Around Real Goals Everyday. It’s about designing your days with purpose so that you don’t just drift through life—you direct it.
Let’s explore five simple but powerful habits that high achievers build into their daily rhythm.
Start the day on purpose—not by accident.
Well-led leaders don't roll out of bed and go straight to email or get caught up in the rush of the world. They make time early in the day to center themselves, remember their purpose, and identify their most important priorities. As little as ten minutes of intention can shift the course of an entire day.
With a tool such as the Full Focus Planner, I challenge leaders to determine their Daily Big 3—the top three things they must do that will make the day a win. It's not about more. It's about doing what matters most.
Keep the vision in plain sight.
High performers don't merely set objectives—they revisit them regularly. Vision blurs when it's out of sight. But when leaders keep themselves, and their teams, reminded of where they're headed and why, it enlivens motivation and purpose.
"That’s where a coach comes in—to help you close the gap between where you are and where you want to be. Your leadership and business deserve a clear, compelling message—one that resonates internally with your team and externally with your audience. When you work with your Coach your next steps become clear and intentional."
Act with intent.
Being busy is not the same as being effective. Great leaders are able to distinguish movement from momentum. They prioritize their tasks by impact. Each action has intention, each meeting has purpose, and each "yes" has a solidifying "why" behind it.
This clarity results from forming habits of prioritization. It's why the CHARGE mindset is motivational, but also practical. Intentional day-by-day decisions deliver long-term outcomes.
Fuel the mind, every single day.
The best leaders are learners. They don’t wait for a seminar or a quarterly retreat to grow—they make learning a lifestyle. Whether it's reading ten pages of a book, listening to a podcast on the drive home, or engaging with a mentor or coach, personal growth is part of the daily rhythm.
Even 15 minutes of learning a day adds up to nearly 100 hours of growth a year. That’s how you separate good from great. That’s how you stay sharp in a changing world.
End with reflection, not exhaustion.
At the end of the day, it’s easy to crash and call it a night. But high performers carve out a few quiet moments to reflect. What worked? What didn’t? What can I do better tomorrow?
This practice of reflection isn’t about perfection—it’s about progress. It’s about turning experience into insight and being just a little better than you were yesterday.
When we reflect, we reset. And when we reset, we reengage with greater energy and clarity.
Final Thoughts: Build a Life That Works—One Habit at a Time
The leaders who make the biggest impact aren’t necessarily the ones with the most talent or resources. They’re the ones who build consistent habits that align with their values and goals.
These five habits? They’re not revolutionary. But they are transformational.
If you want to lead yourself and others well…
If you want to create a life and business filled with significance…
If you want to CHARGE forward with clarity and confidence…
Then it starts with what you choose to do today.
So let’s build the right habits, anchored in the right purpose—
